Golden Globes 2020: Best-dressed list

6th January 2020 - Aina Matamoros

Awards season is here again! That means it’s red carpet time, my favorite time of the year. I love the designers’ collections and fashion shows and I really enjoy fashion week season, too, but I adore seeing the designers’ work, those wonderful haute couture dresses, actually worn by some of the most glamorous women on Earth (only some). That being said, The Golden Globes is the first big award ceremony of each year. Yesterday, it took place in Los Angeles and there were some pretty big wins and loses and also some surprises, both in the awards and in the red carpet, which is what’s more interesting for us.

For the men, I will only highlight the one who has been playing the role of red carpet fashion icon for the past year: Billy Porter. He dressed all white and wore a long feathered train like if he was a real swan. The designer who created the tailored look was Alex Vinash. He also wore a bag made from over 4,000 Swarovski crystals and Tiffany & Co jewels. Ansel Elgort, in Tom Ford, deserves to be mentioned here, since he rocked the most elegant suit in a relaxed and youthful way. The other two MEN that deserve to be included in my post are, of course, the legends Leonardo Di Caprio and Brad Pitt (who won Best Supporting Actor). They both starred in Quentin Tarantino’s film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (that won Best Picture Comedy) and they both presented the film together. That moment was the moment. They are over 40 and over 50 and still remain the hottest actors in the industry.

There were so many great dresses and looks amongst the women this year. I feel like all of them were gorgeous, but some of them were like goddesses. My absolute favorite ones were, first of all, the one and only (who also does not age) Jennifer Aniston, who wore a perfectly elegant Dior black dress that made her look like the timeless and awesome woman she is. Secondly, my other personal favorite was Margot Robbie, in Chanel. The dress had a shiny embroidered top and a slim white bottom with pockets. Beautiful.

The rest of my best-dressed list includes all-time fashion icons such as Cate Blanchett, in a real Greek goddess look by Greek designer Mary Katranzou, Scarlett Johansson, who normally is not in this list but she wore a Vera Wang red gown that looked fabulous on her, Spanish-Cuban actress Ana de Armas, in an all sequined black dress with a voluminous skirts by Ralph & Russo, Sienna Miller, in Gucci, and Kerry Washington, winning the award for the sexiest look of the night by Altuzarra.
